Sophisticated in blue & silver

A holy communion is a special event and we were honoured when we were asked to manage this celebration for a delightful little girl and her family.

She chose a sophisticated colour scheme of blue, white and silver. We started with a room full of crisp white linen and splashes of light blue and the team at Velvet Lily were able to add in gorgeous silver vessels to highlight the beautiful flower arrangements they created.

The guests enjoyed a delicious dessert station styled in classic blue and white, with more flowers from Velvet Lily to finish it off. It was filled with treats including cake pops, cupcakes (in vanilla, chocolate and carrot - yum!), macarons and individual serves of vanilla bean pana cotta.

Just a reminder that we will be at Fairy Floss's first birthday market this Sunday, as the cupcake chicks. It's going to be a huge day with all sorts of surprises - even Diego and Dora will be making an appearance! If you are anywhere near Bulleen on Sunday, make sure you drop by - we would love to see you :)

Also, if you have any orders from the shop that you would like to collect - just drop us an email here and we will make sure we have it with us.

Cheers,

All for a good cause

A few weeks ago we were very happy to be involved with a Breast Cancer Network fund-raising event, put together by the delightful Jess from Honey PR.

It was a great night and we met some really lovely people - and they all seemed to enjoy our dessert station - as there was none left at the end of the night!

The table featured; mini cupcakes, teeny tiny macarons, cake pops, vanilla bean pana cotta, bite size sugar cookies and chocolate dipped wafers. The macarons and sugar cookies were tiny, so fitted into our jars, which was a lovely way to present them on the night.

Thanks to Jess for all her planning that goes into nights like these - it was a joy to be a part of and know we were contributing to such a good cause.

Cheers,

Roar, he's Four!!

We love it when clients come to us wanting to do something a bit different. This client wanted to celebrate her son's love of all things dinosaur, but really didn't want to go the standard green and brown colour scheme. So, we suggested a blue and orange palate, using a ferocious looking dinosaur and it grew from there!

You might have already seen a peek of these photos over at Amy Atlas, where it was featured last week. You can catch it here if you missed it.

Of course, one of our parties wouldn't be complete without a dessert station. Lots of candy, those SUPER cute dino cupcakes and an enormous ferocious-looking dinosaur cake. We also included jelly cups, cookies, popcorn and mini donuts.

Even though it was a fourth birthday, it was the first 'party' they had thrown for their little boy, so wanted it to be a super special occasion, with lots of entertainment. With that brief, we arranged a HUGE jumping castle (or bounce house for those playing along in the US) that was over 7m x 7m and featured a giant dinosaur head!

There was also an entertainer who took the kids on a fossil hunt, face painted and created balloon dino creations. A reptile show completed the afternoon, with all the kids getting as close as they could to a 'real dinosaur' by holding crocodiles, snakes and frogs!

Being Melbourne, we had torrential rain in the lead up to the party and ended up having to erect a marquee to cover the clients back yard two days before the party. We filled it with lanterns from Moonlight & Whimsy, inflatable dinosaurs and lots of dino's from the clients own collection, along with two kids party tables, filled with a delicious lunch.

At the end of the day, each child took home a treat bag filled with candy, a bag of fossils and their explorer hats - as well as huge smiles. We couldn't ask for more!

How was your weekend?

So, how was your weekend?

Ours?  Well... it was another busy one! With a cake order, Communion, Amy Atlas feature and then a Fairy Floss Market, we might need another weekend to get over the one we have just had!

Thought we would share some of the pics that made up our weekend - we would LOVE to hear what everyone else got up to... hopefully you enjoyed the sunshine wherever you are.

We love doing cakes for clients to complete their event... this 'In the Night Garden' themed one was divine and the customer was thrilled with the result! In fact, this Upsy Daisy would have matched these cookies we did a few months ago!

We were thrilled to wake up on Saturday morning to find our Dino Roar party from last weekend featured over at Amy Atlas Events! We won't ever get over the thrill of seeing our parties featured with such amazing talent from all over the world... We will share the rest of these pictures later this week and you can catch our other Amy Atlas features here and here.

We love working with the talented team at Velvet Lily Florist and yet again, they didn't disappoint. These gorgeous flowers are from a Communion we managed on Saturday. Will get some more photos up from this one soon.

Finally, on Sunday we were up early and headed up Geelong for the Fairy Floss Markets. We really enjoy this market and the sunshine bought out the crowds! We also took some helpers with us - our girls, Gracie and Ella, joined us for the day.

Big thanks to the lovely Valerie at Taffy's Picnic Face Painting for keeping them in face paint all day. She did such a great job it was a shame to wash away their superhero and bluebird faces in time for school today!
