Inspired By.... Candy Land

Today at The Inspired Occasion we’re inspired by Candy!  The team at Décor by Yael, of Sydney created this fabulous Candy Land party for one lucky girl to celebrate turning twelve.

Tweens can be a tough audience to please, but these kids were treated to some classic favourites over brunch at a long central table decorated with in a gelato colour theme offset by a selection of  polkadot and ‘gumball balloons’.
The central table was further accentuated by giant tea cups overflowing with…what else but candy?!

The younger guests were served with jugs of chocolate milk and pancake stacks with crunchy cereal. A buffet along the wall was stocked with yoghurt, fruit and buns for the older guests to try.
What a feast for the eyes (and the mouth)!
Thanks to Décor by Yael for today’s inspiration. Photography for this event was by Ofer Levy of Sydney.

We heart cake stands

Ok, We admit it... We have might have a thing for cake stands... with a collection that is outgrowing our storage space they are in danger of overtaking our vases, platter and jar collection (and that's saying something!). Thank goodness they stack one on top of the other!

Glass, domed, crystal, tin, tiered and porcelain...the count is well over 10 15 now with all different sizes and styles! We actually did have a party recently where we used almost all of them - which was great fun... and also justified my collection! You can check it out here.

Our favourite at the moment are the gorgeous milk glass stands that we picked up from the lovely Leanne at Sweet Style. We have used them on so many tables recently and are now considering getting them in other heights as well...

These lovely stands from Pottery Barn put a twist on the standard cake stand, with a thick rounded base, there is something nice and solid about it...

Finally, this one has been on the wish list for quite some time... fingers crossed it's still in stock!

Loving the way the ribbon winds it's way through the stand, allowing you to decorate it again and again to work with the theme of the day. Just gorgeous!

So, we have shared our  obsession... what's yours?

Some random pics from our weekend....

We hope you have had a lovely weekend... we thought we would share some random iPhone shots from our weekend...

Liesl at Sugar & Spice Children's Market, manning our cupcake stall. Must have been a busy day as she sold out of cupcakes! Sorry we missed seeing everyone up there, but we know Liesl would have looked after you all with a smile!

While Liesl was at Sugar & Spice, we were on at a Dino hunt birthday party... we had so much fun and it was a great theme to put together! Can't wait to share some more photos with you all over the coming week!

From Dinosaurs to a Communion - next week will bring a bit more of a formal event and another cupcake stall... this time up at Geelong with Fairy Floss Markets

As always, if you would like to place an order from the shop to collect in Geelong next Sunday - don't hesitate to drop us an email and we can bring it with us.

Cupcakes and dinosaurs

{mmmm cupcakes!}

It's only Thursday and we already have our minds on the weekend. We have another big one ahead, with a visit to one of our favourite markets - Sugar and Spice Children's Market in Woodend as well as a big Dinosaur themed party... all in the one day!

"How can you be in two places at once?" we hear you ask... well, with a little help from our friends! While we will be dino hunting, we will have the lovely Liesl manning our cupcake stall in Woodend.

Liesl will be able to help you out with a delicious, freshly baked cupcake or one of our yummy macarons and no doubt, a big smile!

While you are all enjoying our cupcakes and all the gorgeous stalls at Sugar and Spice, we will be partying with a group of excited 4 year olds. With a giant jumping castle, entertainers and a super fun reptile show; we can't wait to share you photos from this one!

What's on for your weekend? We would love to hear all about it!

Lavishly dramatic

We love working with the team at Laviish and always look forward to our events there. Using such a fun venue that already comes with such a dramatic colour scheme, we only have to add highlights to have a fabulous themed party space.

This client wanted something classy to help celebrate her 40th birthday. Choosing a classic and slightly dramatic colour palate of red and black, which complemented the scheme already at Laviish, we added in a dessert station for 60 adults featuring some of our favourites, and a number of centrepieces scattered throughout the space to provide consistency with the feel.

The gorgeous cake was a red velvet mud cake - we are only disappointed that we didn't get a shot of it once it was cut!

Don't forget if you are looking for a fabulous venue in Melbourne, we highly recommend the team at Laviish and we can't wait to work with them again soon!
