Pink lemonade party

Here in Melbourne we are desperately trying to get to Spring. There are pink blossoms on our front tree, our lemon tree is full and heavy and the grass is a lovely green. We even had the sun peeking through for an hour or two today.

However - it's still freezing cold, 'slipper' kind of weather and while we can hope for Spring, I suspect it's still a way off!

So, when I came across this beautiful party on Eat Drink Pretty that Pam Burrus put together for her daughters first birthday party, I had to share. The Pink Lemonade theme, with it's pink and yellow colour scheme seemed like a cheery shout out to Spring.

All the details were put together by Pam (even the cake!) with a little help from her family. I love the idea of the lemonade stand photo booth and the birthday girl seemed to enjoy it too!

Pam took a cake making course in the month before the party, so she could make the cake herself. Talk about dedicated. I think it was worth it -  the cake looks fabulous!

Ballerina beauty

Inspired this week by Angelina Ballerina, I have been busy making mouse ears and tails in readiness for a book week parade at my daughters school.

So, I was thrilled to come across this beautiful party by A Little Loveliness that was created for her daughter. It has such a sophisticated, grown up feel to it while still being pretty and girly. The tulips were requested by the birthday girl - she obviously has good tastes - these are my favourite flowers as well!

All the details, from the beautiful invites (which match the theme perfectly) through to the cute little marshmallow tutu's (that mum created for the party) have obviously been created with such inspiration and love.

The party started off with a ballet lesson for all the little girls before they sat down to the lovely little tea party. They were even each provided with their own matching tutu's to take home with them - bliss!

Giving me lots of ideas for my little ballerina's next birthday!

Pink, yellow and girly

We recently had the privilege to create a girly, pink and yellow party for a gorgeous little girl. With such a fun brief, we had a ball in putting this together.

Some details for you - the spotty cupcake holders and pink stripy ribbons are from DetailsDetails and we made the tissue paper pom poms and all labels ourselves - which was great fun!

In terms of food, we stuck to pretty simple favourites including pink donuts, beautiful pink yo-yo biscuits, pink sprinkle bread, wafers, cupcakes, musks, marshmallows, pink lemonade and meringues.  We also found some really yummy white choc and raspberry bullets - which were a real hit!

Joy and excitement!

We don't do weddings, but I just love this photo. It captures such joy, excitement and happiness, the essence of being a kid! I came across it today on Snippet and Ink and it was taken by Abby Ross photography.

We are busy at the moment preparing for our Ava's Tea Party which we are holding on 4th September and have spent the weekend surrounded by pink, green, yellow and blue things - such happy colours.

Can't wait to be able to share it with you and hoping to capture some moments filled with joy, excitement and happiness!

Byron's birthday - Red, White and Blue

We came across this party designed by Joy and Me for a little boy, Byron. Doing an original party for a little boy can be tricky and while the colours in this design are the traditional red, white and blue, the book theme adds something fresh to it.

Favourite bits; the use of books (this idea could be used across so many different settings and themes), the vintage feel added with the stripy straws and the lovely prints and finally, the multi-coloured pin wheels (something that I have been making a lot of myself lately!).

I also really like the use of the book shelf as a backdrop. Not only does it suit the book theme, it is a great use of existing resources! Well done - and thanks for letting me share!

Alice in Wonderland Inspiration

We came across this beautiful Alice in Wonderland party by Kasey Buick on Amy Atlas' blog and just had to share it with you all. Not only is it just beautiful for children (Kasey prepared it for her daughters 8th birthday), the details could so easily be transferred to an adult party as well.

And speaking of details... loving the chairs, the party bags and the vintage lace table cloths. Some really simple pieces mixed in with the more dramatic ones result in a fantastic elegant vintage feel.

Fair fun - French Village Fair

The theme for the day will be 'french village fair'.  The school oval will be filled with flowers in pails, bunting, white marquees, bicycles with balloons, paper rosettes, red & white stripes and mini Eiffel towers.

Last night I set up a 'template' table for the stall holders meeting - thought I would share a preview with you all. Hope you like!

Very First Party

Sunday morning pretties...

It's a bright and sunny morning today, a rare sight for us Melburnians in winter. I also spotted some blossoms on the tree in driveway this morning. Maybe it means that spring is not far away... well, we can dream!

Anyway, I was hoping to share some of the photo's from yesterdays shoot with you all, however due to issues with Blogger, I am unable to post them up here for the time being. I have instead posted them to our facebook page - so please click through to see them there. I will get them up here as soon as possible.

The theme was all around our brand colours, as we figured that would be a great way to introduce ourselves to you. Alex made the wonderful centre piece cake (in fact, she is good with all things food!) and all the paper pretties are made by me . Thanks to the team at Details Details for some of the bits, such as the awesome flags and the cool striped straws.

While we kept it fairly simple with food, the kids loved it - and as you will see spent some time in the sunshine demolishing the cake (it tastes as good as it looks).

A taste of things to come

Today was a busy one for us - we spent the day styling a fab shoot based around our brand colours. With the kids on hand to help eat the buffet, husbands to hang bunting and us buzzing around all over my dining room, we are really proud of the results. I have posted one of the photo's as a bit of a teaser, but hope to get the rest up over the next few days. Hope you like it - can't wait to share the rest soon!
