Part 2 - An Elmo extravaganza

If you popped by our blog yesterday, you will have seen Part 1 of our Elmo Extravaganza that we put together for a lovely client earlier this month. If you missed it, you can catch up here. Now for Part 2 - the kids table.

Our venue was really large and with 30 kids, we thought we would take advantage of the space and fill it with a long table centred down the middle of the room.

At each child's place there was an Elmo blower and a decorated party hat. We have a tutorial coming up on the Handmade Hullabaloo in the next week or so for the party hats, so look out for it there!

As a reference to Elmo's goldfish Dorothy, we used large gold fish bowls as centrepieces. Filled with coloured gum balls, a selection of Elmo pinwheels (which each child took home at the end) and a large oversized balloon (from Candy Soirees), they looked so bright and colourful and the kids loved them.

The Inspired Occasion

Pink, Teal and Purple - a girly birthday!

This is a party we styled for a client's daughters first birthday in December. Sorry it's taken so long to get it up, but with Christmas etc... well, you know how it is! So finally, here it is!

(Just a quick note - we have edited some of the photo's and details to remove the clients personal details to preserve privacy... so where you see things like 'baby' - please be assured it originally read the birthday girls name!)

The brief from the client was to create something simple, classic and pink. We added in touches of teal and purple, with a vintage feel, which made for a pretty girly theme!

The invites - designed by us. We tried to incorporate aspects of the invite throughout the party, in the printables, the backdrops and of course the colours. We also used the initial of the birthday girl, along with the number 1 through out to help keep the theme going.

We created a desert table, along with a main table for the children. We also supplied all the children's catering and a number of activities and games for the guests.

On the children's table, we kept to our theme with customised juice poppers, napkin holders and the colour co-ordinated plates and napkins.

And now - the details!

We also supplied a smash cake for the birthday girl - it was so much fun watching her destroy it! This was the first time we had done one of these and I would highly recommend it!

The highchair is decorated with some ribbon bunting created by Amy of Giggleberry Creations. It was perfect - thanks Amy!

Finally, we also supplied a wishing tree for this party. The tree is from the lovely Amy at Maggie Made. I am not sure that this is what she had in mind for her tree's, but it worked wonderfully and was a great addition to a first birthday party. The guests were all asked to leave their wishes for the birthday girl on little cards that we designed to match the theme. It will be a lovely keepsake for years to come.

Oh so (Shabby) Chic.... first birthday party

In our home we have a fairly modern style. Lots of clean lines, dark wood, polished boards, touches of mocha and greens, lots of 'kid friendly' furniture (read Ikea) - and about as far away from shabby chic as you can imagine! 

But something comes over me when I see the shabby chic/vintage theme done well. It makes me wish, just for a moment or two, for the kind of home that would hold these beautiful things and do them justice.

While I will never have that home (it really isn't me - no matter how much I like it on other people!), I can instead drool over these fantastically beautiful images from this first birthday party, styled by Courtney at Pizzazzerie. 

Courtney worked for months with the mum of the birthday girl to pull all the details together for this event (check out her link above for a list of all the suppliers involved, as well as more details on the party), using the clients inspiration to guide her styling. They decided on a theme of aqua and coral (this seems to be a hot trend at the moment), with splashes of bright yellow. She has done a wonderful job, so many details, it really is divine.

Pink lemonade party

Here in Melbourne we are desperately trying to get to Spring. There are pink blossoms on our front tree, our lemon tree is full and heavy and the grass is a lovely green. We even had the sun peeking through for an hour or two today.

However - it's still freezing cold, 'slipper' kind of weather and while we can hope for Spring, I suspect it's still a way off!

So, when I came across this beautiful party on Eat Drink Pretty that Pam Burrus put together for her daughters first birthday party, I had to share. The Pink Lemonade theme, with it's pink and yellow colour scheme seemed like a cheery shout out to Spring.

All the details were put together by Pam (even the cake!) with a little help from her family. I love the idea of the lemonade stand photo booth and the birthday girl seemed to enjoy it too!

Pam took a cake making course in the month before the party, so she could make the cake herself. Talk about dedicated. I think it was worth it -  the cake looks fabulous!
