Yellow Daisy Cookies & Cupcakes on a Winter Day

Last week we had a client request for daisy inspired edibles with a yellow and white theme.

We created mini cupcakes with daisy toppers and flower cookies on sticks.

The yellow and white theme provided a reminder of summer on a cold Melbourne winter’s day.

We hope the event was as cheerful and bright as these daisies and are looking forward to seeing how our client styled them on their dessert station.

Over the Top with Gossip Girl - DIY Party in a Box

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of coordinating  a DIY Party in a Box for our client’s 30th Birthday celebrations with the theme being “Gossip Girl” and a requested colour palette of Black, Silver and White with some splashes of Green. Our instructions were to provide something over the top and eye catching but within a budget.

The function was held at our client’s residence with 30 guests attending.  The Inspired Occasion provided our popular personalised DIY Party in a Box which contained everything the client needed to style her very own party in style. Our Gossip Girl kit was complete with trestle table, table cloths, backdrop, decorations, risers, cake stands, champagne bucket and glasses, drink dispenser, trays, vintage bottles with straws and a spectacular centre piece.

The cocktail party menu consisted of both sweet and savoury items:

Green Peppermint Ganache Macarons
Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta
Mini Gourmet Burgers with Cheese and Chutney
Tomato and Basil Bruschetta Mix with an assortment of breads
Red Velvet and cream cheese Rosette Cake

We served the panna cotta in miniature coffee cups and individual portions of bruschetta in clear glass jars which helped create the over the top Gossip Girl theme and gave the table a talking point.

All dessert station edibles, stationery and themed items were designed and made in-house, including the centre piece complete with peacock feathers and white ostrich feathers adding WOW factor and coordinating perfectly with the colour  palette requested.

The dessert station was completed with four candy jars filled with assorted green, white and silver chocolates and jelly beans.

Below are a few pre pickup shots that we managed to grab before all was collected.

Carnival of Fun - Ronald McDonald House

The Inspired Occasion, in partnership with Little Big Company, is event managing and styling a party and graduation ceremony for Ronald McDonald House guests in Melbourne at the Parkville House.

On October 20, we will be joining forces and hosting a carnival themed celebration for families that have relied on the support of Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Learning Program.

Ronald McDonald House is an affordable home-away-from-home for the families of seriously ill children being treated at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Rather than spend the night in a hospital waiting room, family members can stay in comfort at Ronald McDonald House where they also receive support from staff, volunteers or other families who are sharing similar experiences.

Facilities include private family rooms, shared bathroom, kitchen and lounge facilities, quiet rooms and play areas.

Established in 1986, Ronald McDonald House at Parkville accommodates 47 families each night of the year. Since opening its doors the House has provided a ‘home away from home’ for approximately 36,000 nightly guests each year. As hospital stays, treatments and surgeries increase annually, so does the demand for this much needed service.

The House is an ideal place for families to be together, offering the comforts of home during one of the most critical times in their lives.

Located close to the Royal Children’s Hospital, which admits Australia's most complex paediatric patients, parents know they are not far from their child’s bedside when not with them on the ward. The location also allows sick children to reside at the House with their parents and siblings if they are well enough, and go to the hospital for daily treatment.

The House is a vital support service for so many families in need, offering warmth and inspiration and allowing friendships to be formed as families share a similarly challenging journey. The House is a place where everyone understands the importance of small ‘wins’ and the celebrations that come with these along with the empathy and outpouring of love when facing immense sadness in their lives.

The Ronald McDonald Learning Program (RMLP) provides tailored education programs to help students recovering from serious illnesses, such as cancer and cystic fibrosis, to catch up on their missed education.

The RMLP offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to overcoming the learning difficulties brought about due to illness and school absence. Outside our program there is little assistance for the educational needs of seriously ill children. There are no additional support systems, groups or organisations that offer one-to-one teaching for these children with a qualified teacher. Medical and educational professionals are extremely supportive of the program as they acknowledge the gap in current services for these children.

The RMLP is an Australian initiative with international recognition. The program is holistic and looks at all aspects of the students’ learning, providing services such as psychometric assessment, speech and occupational therapy along with weekly tuition from a highly qualified teacher. It currently supports 800 students across Australia from Kindergarten to Year 12.

The aim of this event is to put a smile on the families’ faces and as event mangers and stylists we feel the best way to help this wonderful organisation is to provide a fabulous party for those families affected by sickness or injury.

The chosen theme for the party is "Carnival" which seems very appropriate, with 100 children and their parents invited for afternoon tea.

The costs of ongoing treatment often causes a huge financial strain for the families involved and while The Inspired Occasion and Little Big Company will be donating a number of items to this fabulous day, we are also excited to announce that the following companies have joined us in contributing their products and services

We have developed a “Communities” page on our website which is devoted to this event. Over the coming months we will tell the stories of all of our contributing companies.

Please contact alex@theinspiredoccasion.com.au if you or your company would like to contribute to this magical event. With more and more businesses contributing by the day we will be sure to update this blog very soon with more wonderful small business contributions.

Yellow and White with a splash of owl

As featured this week on Little Big Company blog we had the pleasure of styling and event managing a Yellow and White with a splash of owl inspired party for a client a few weeks ago.

The occasion was a 7year old’s birthday party. The birthday girl chose her favourite colour combinations adding a family favourite owl theme.

The party was held at a beautiful private residence with 20 guests. The Inspired Occasion event managed the party, organising the savoury food, tables, chairs, linen requirements, entertainment and rosette style chocolate mud birthday cake.

The children's table was covered with a white table cloth, matching runner and a bird cage centrepiece. We also provided bench seating and covers for the children. The children’s’ table was set with colour coordinated napery with each child receiving a customised pop-top.

The entertainer took the children on a traditional party games adventure which included, pass the parcel, piñata, dance, music, and some other classic party games.

All dessert station edibles, stationery and themed items were made and designed in-house with even the canopy materials customised to match the colour theme for this event.  Risers, white cake stands, and white platters completed the theme.

The guests were served our savoury package lunch which included sausage rolls, pizza slices and party pies with platters of fruit, fairy bread and crisps on the table.

Our Dessert Station menu featured:

Vanilla Buttercream Cupcakes
Owl Sugar Cookies
Lemon Jelly Cups
Decorated Cakepops

We completed the dessert station with colour co-ordinated candy jars with decorative dots, customised menu tags and colour coordinated personalised loot box's (from Candy Soirees) filled with candy.
